A huge thank you to everyone who came out on our build days at 140 Pinery Trail! It was a messy, muddy, but fun day overall. This building will be a townhouse consisting of 15 units. There are plans in the future to build another two buildings, allowing approximately 40+ families to live in the area. It is also worth noting that the surrounding homes of this site were built by Habitat for Humanity and its volunteers 10 years ago!
The team, on both days, applied drywall compound (colloquially “mud”) between the units of the townhouses. This mud seals gaps between the houses and prevents fire from spreading to the next unit for a set amount of time if one happened to catch on fire. This fireproofing buys precious time for evacuation and fighting the fire before it spreads.
On Feb 22, we applied fireproofing to a unit on the third floor, as well as their attic. On Feb 25, we applied it to a few units on the second floor.
